What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

02-15-2015 Pastor’s Note

February 15th, 2015

The captive American aid worker, Kayla Mueller, who was murdered by ISIS Muslims last week, had gotten one letter out to her parents before she was killed. She learned some things in her time under the hand of the savage men who held her captive, which she related in her letter.

She wrote, “I remember mom always telling me that all in all in the end the only one you really have is God. I have come to a place in experience where, in every sense of the word, I have surrendered myself to our creator because, literally, there was no else. By God and by your prayers, I have felt tenderly cradled in free fall. I have been shown in darkness, light, and have learned that even in prison, one can be free. I am grateful. I have come to see that there is good in every situation, sometimes we just have to look for it. I pray each of you each day that if nothing else, you have felt a certain closeness and surrender to God as well, and have formed a bond of love and support amongst one another…”

As you might expect, the news media, by and large, skipped over this portion of the letter. What Kayla learned is a lesson we all need. We must come to that place of surrender to God that represents dependence on nothing but Him. It is then, that even under the most deplorable circumstances, we can rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.

At the moment, only the Syrians and their armed forces have responded appropriately to the atrocities committed by those ISIS Muslim terrorists, but there is a Higher Authority on the throne in Heaven, before whom they will all stand in judgment. Justice will ultimately be meted out. Like Belshazzar before them, they will be “weighed in the balances, and found wanting.”

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
