Life Is What You Make It

God holds you accountable for your own decisions. Not your friends’; not your parents’; not your enemies’.  You are as close to God right now as you want to be. You might think, “No… I’d like to be closer to God, it’s just that…” You’re fooling yourself. Your life is […]

A Lot of Miles Being Traveled…

November 25th, 2016

And, even MORE importantly… GOD wants to speak to each person at the Preaching Rally this Saturday.

While we can do OUR part as best we know how—organize the games, lay out the schedule, order the pizzas, call the churches—only GOD can do the really important work of changing people’s hearts. Our church is just the conduit, God is the power. Our church is just the tool, God is the one that does the work.

Lest we forget whose Preaching Rally this is, let’s spend a little time tonight in prayer. First, of course, we will still pray for safety as all the churches travel in, but then let’s also pray for God to work in people’s hearts.

Here are three prayer requests we can have over the next few days:

  1. God, DO SOMETHING in me. Ask God to work in YOUR life, first. That’s not selfish. That’s the most essential! Don’t forget that even though we are the hosts, we are ALSO getting the preaching for OUR benefit, too.
  2. God, DO SOMETHING in us. Let’s also ask God to do a work in US, collectively. This could mean a couple things: 1) within our church, broadly. Or, 2) within this class. Ask for friendships to be strengthened, for brothers to encourage brothers and sisters to encourage sisters. Ask for God’s wisdom in dealing with sin, temptation, and setbacks. Ask for God to inspire and fire us up as a class, and to use the Teens of Faith in a special way within our church.
  3. God, DO SOMETHING in them. Finally, let’s ask God to do a special work in our GUESTS. We are doing this for them, after all, so let’s be sure to ask God to work in everyone’s heart while they’re here. The Preaching Rally is a special day, designed to be an intensive day of preaching. God wants to work through His Word, and He will have much more freedom to do so if WE have been praying and seeking His face for the benefit of others, like Daniel did in Dan. 9.
