Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, and we have nothing big planned for the season. No big cantata, no outdoor event, and no Christmas drama. We’re making this season a little lighter than last year.
What we’ll do instead is work on one new Christmas song, review a few old ones, and begin working on some new songs for our February GIBF meeting that we are hosting. The February songs will be more advanced—along the lines of our Christmas songs last year—but we will be using our usual Christmas rehearsal months to prepare these extra-special songs.
Over the next few months, starting in September, we will begin trickling out the music until we have a full 5 or 6 songs that we will improve on weekly.
I always love this season as I love learning new songs. It breaks up any monotony we can get into, stretches our abilities, and focuses our minds on new thoughts. I like that. I’m looking forward to it!
