Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

TOF – “Did You Bring Your Dollar?”

December 26th, 2013

Note from Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Last Sunday we revisited the spiritual discipline of giving. We talked about being faithful as a steward of what God has given you.

You’ve been given a gift that is way bigger than you, and, as a Christian, you’re expected to use it in a way that benefits others. That’s what stewards did in the Bible days. That is what you should do as a Christian.

One way you’ve been blessed is by being saved. You were given God’s Son when you got saved, and your job is to spread the gospel (good news) to the lost. In addition, as a Christian, your “job” is much bigger than that. Since you’re serving GOD in everything you do, it doesn’t matter what other people think, because they’re not going to be the ones judging you. God will. So please God.

You please God in being obedient to His Word. Giving is one aspect of obedience, and God expects sacrifice and faithfulness, like the note said last week.

“Did you bring your dollar?” We’re saying that now on Sundays and Wednesdays. Say it to each other. “Did you bring your dollar?”

Is that legalism? No. Legalism means that people add rules in order to be saved. This isn’t about being saved or lost. This is about being a faithful steward of what God has given you.

Has God blessed you? God’s blessed me! I want to sacrifice and faithfully give so that others can have those same blessings on their lives too! I love God and I love other people, and I want them to experience the same amazing blessings on their lives that I’ve experienced.

That’s what giving is all about. It’s not about the money. Money’s easy to get. God owns everything. He created it. What’s He need money for?! He doesn’t. Giving is much deeper than just… money. Giving is about spiritual things. “Did you bring your dollar?” -Bro. Ryan
