Note from Wednesday, October 9, 2013
It’s not about the money… it’s about your being obedient to Scripture.
Giving is about your spiritual walk with God. A Christian who loves God can’t help but give sacrificially and faithfully.
We’ve already been able to see God bless over the past few weeks of our increased attention to the offerings. I don’t think it’s because we’re taking 2 offerings per week, either. I think it’s because you’re starting to see that giving is a spiritual discipline that you should be learning now, while you don’t have a ton to give.
“Did you bring your dollar?” That question can be just as appropriate to ask each other as “What did you read in your Bible this week?” They’re both spiritual questions. They both help you grow spiritually.
Does that make sense? I love talking to you about money, because I can sincerely mean it when I say that it’s not about the money. It’s not! It’s about your spiritual growth.
If you’re growing in the Lord, giving will be a part of it. So, praise God that He’s blessing your sacrifice and faithfulness over the past couple weeks. We’ve been able to add one more church planter to the board, as you can see. That represents a lot of giving over the past couple weeks!
Keep up the good work.
