What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

TOF – Happy Birthday, CBC!

May 3rd, 2015

Sometimes I remember how old I am by how old the church is. Sometimes I remember how old the church is by remembering how old I am. It’s a symbiotic relationship we have—something very few people have (unless you also happen to be 28 this year, that is).

I love our church.

I was an infant when my dad moved here to Podunk Nowheresville DinkyTown CA. It was halfway to everywhere but in the middle of nowhere. It wasn’t even called Temecula, back then. We were Rancho California, and no one knew why anyone would want to live here.

My first memories of the church include setting up chairs. I know we met in a school for about 5 years, so my memories must be in that school. Once we got our current property—that’s when I really have memories of our church. We played and played all over these 5 acres—from the top of the hill to the bottom of the parking lot and everywhere in between. The back area was our “tag, no-base” zone, and the gym used to be a sprawling grass field where we would play AWANA games.

While we might reflect on the nostalgic days of time past, I really believe the best days of our church are yet ahead. Twenty-eight is young. This church is just getting started. We have a lot more work to do. Yep… that means you, young person. Get a real walk with God now. Be a contributing church member as a young adult, so that when you become an adult, your impact changes—not your lifestyle.
