What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

TOF – Why Is It So Hard?!

October 30th, 2014

Have you ever wondered, “Why is the Christian walk so hard?!”

I have.

I’ll admit it. “Why can’t it just be… easy to live right, do right, love people, not get mad, discipline myself…”

I hate not being good at stuff. I hate falling behind, so I hate it when I fall behind spiritually. I just want it to come easy for me.

But it doesn’t. It takes work. It takes commitment. It takes faithfulness. It takes discipline. It sometimes stinks.

I wake up early every day. I read. I pray. I study my Bible. I try to control my tongue. I try to discipline my mind. I work on my schedule to make time for family, soul-winning, church ministry, church, and everything else I need to do. I work like crazy to be balanced—not overdoing the DO-ing of the Christian walk but also not neglecting the DO-ing either.

Most people want heaven and a guilt-free life. That’s about it.

They want heaven when they die, and when they’re alive, they don’t want the guilt when they’re not obedient to God while they’re alive. Is that you? I hope not.

If it is, like Pastor said on Sunday—go all in! You have one foot in the boat and one foot on land, and the boat is floating away! Jump in! Stop trying to straddle both.

Once you’re all in, it’s actually pretty easy. Christianity stops being hard, because it’s no longer something you “have” to do.

If you’re asking, “Why is it so hard,” maybe you should be asking, “Am I all in?”

If not, make it easy on yourself. Surrender to God.
