I love my valentine. I married the only valentine I ever had.
I wanted other valentines, especially when I was in high school, but I’m glad I never got any of them. God had just the right one, just for me.
If I had MY way, I would have dated around, messed around, had me some fun in high school. It might have been fun back then—for a season, as the Bible says—but what about now?
Instant pleasures last only as long as the pleasure lasts. Then, all you have left is guilt (or suppressed guilt).
When you do things God’s way—wait on God, follow His leading, choose a spouse wisely—you not only get the instant pleasure, but you also get lifetime pleasure. Lifetime blessings. Lifetime non-guilt, in this area.
The Christian life is NOT about following a “list of rules” that the Bible lays out for all the “Christian peons.” God’s not the confused “man upstairs” that He is sometimes viewed as.
God has designed the Christian life for your good. When you make wise choices—even about who your valentine will be—God leads your life down a wonderful path.
Choose wisely, not emotionally. If you’re on the “single” path at this stage of life, that is probably a good thing. God wants better for you, later.
I love my valentine, Mrs. Jamie, and I want ALL of you to be able to experience the lifetime pleasure that I’m talking about, too.
