10-5-2014 Pastor’s Note

October 5th, 2014

We had our annual Staff Planning Day this past week, and accomplished much toward planning the calendar for 2015, if the Lord hasn’t returned by then! We got a lot more done than that though, because the planning day is much more than that . It’s a day of assessment, where we look back on areas of our ministry that need improvement, and talk of things we must do better . In addition it’s a time to evaluate our vision for the future of the church and “set in order the things that are lacking,” as Paul instructed Timothy to do . We all came away from the long day with the sense that it was a good day, and a sense we had a better concept of what we need to do on the road ahead . Another encouraging thing was not only recalling some blessings already having come to pass this year, but in assessing how many of our more recent folks have such great potential in getting involved in some area of ministry as we look ahead. I’m excited about the first Sunday in January 2015, when we will be sharing the vision I believe the Lord would have us embrace for the New Year! “It is no secret, what God can do!”
