Monumental Moments In Life

I got home yesterday from preaching a 3-night rally in Colorado. I like the emphasis on kicking off the school year right—with Bible preaching! Today, I’ll be re-preaching all three sermons (not all in Sunday school!) as we think about starting the year strong. Each day is a new beginning […]

A Couple Reminders…

November 28th, 2012

Sunday, November 25, 2012

First, thank you for always displaying a spirit to improve and grow. At dinner with the Reas after the workshop, Bro. Eric had several good things to say about the choir, one of which was your eagerness to learn and grow. He was very pleased with how the workshop went a couple weeks ago, and it was encouraging to hear that from him. Praise God!

Questions. Please remember to direct your questions to me during practices. If you feel like your neighbor isn’t getting his or her part, chances are it will be okay. If I can’t hear it, it’s not a huge deal. If it is a problem for several people, just raise your hand and we will hammer out the whole part for everyone, no problem.

Talking. Along with that, please respect others’ questions and please refrain from talking in between songs. This will help us utilize our time best, and it will be a help to more people who might have the same question.

Dress. At the workshop we treaded on thin ice… we talked about ladies’ dress. (!) Dangerous stuff! J Choir (men AND ladies), as the examples in front of church, please always dress above board and to higher standards than others might dress. If it’s a questionable piece of clothing, just pass on it. Please dress well (nice clothing, dress shoes, no denim, etc.) and please dress appropriately. We discussed specifics on tightness, neckline and skirt/dress length with the ladies at the workshop. Please see me with any questions.

Absences. We track your attendance to all practices and events. As always, if you are unable to make it, please let us know. Simply call, text or email and I will usually get it right away. Thank you for those who always do!

Late. Being late not only hinders you but also those you interrupt when entering late. Please do your best to be on time to the 9:15 Sunday practice, the 11am service entrance, the 4:30 choir practice and anything else choir-related. If it helps, think of your deadline to be there as 15 minutes early (i.e. 9am Sunday mornings.)

Involvement. It’s a huge joy to serve the Lord through singing in choir! While I am extremely passionate about having quality, excellent music—and I recently told the orchestra the same thing—I am equally passionate (and more!) to see people serving the Lord. Pastor feels the same way. If you know of anyone else who is thinking about joining choir, please let them know that we will always try to accommodate as many people in choir as possible.

-Bro. Ryan
