March 12th, 2013

– bulletin note from Sunday, March 10, 2013

A man in a pew in a large denominational church was exuberantly shouting “Amen, Amen!”  An usher quickly approached him telling him to be quiet.  The man responded, “But you don’t understand, I’ve gotten religion!”  Said the usher, “Well sit down and shut up, you didn’t get it here!”  It is unfortunately true that genuine Biblical religion isn’t likely to be “gotten” in a lot of places that still have the word “church” on their sign.  Then too, we find in scripture examples of God’s people responding to the preached word with an “Amen!”  The term means things like, I agree, that is true, so be it.  Our ushers won’t be tapping you on the shoulder and telling you to be quiet if you utter an “Amen” now and then!
