Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

TOF- BIBS Restarting Soon

July 27th, 2015

Many of you were too young to be involved in the Alaska Missions Trip and the preparation that went into that. For months ahead of our trip we planned and prepared.

We announced the trip in the Fall and worked all Winter and Spring on BIBS, the Big Idea Bible Study method and devotionals. Remember that series?

After preaching on Wednesday nights about WHY and HOW to study your Bible, we actually started doing it. Each week you were given a passage to read and think about. Then, you would write in your BIBS devotional what God spoke to you about through His Word. Finally, we would meet on Wednesdays and discuss 1) What God said in the text and then 2) What God said to you through the text.

It was the most spiritual growth I’d ever seen in a group in such a short amount of time. I praised God for the growth He brought to you in those months.

Have you noticed something so far in this note? So far it has been in the past tense.

Forget past tense.

Let’s move ahead. Let’s look forward.

Instead of all the cool things happening to the Teens of Faith from 3 years ago, let’s think about the Teens of Faith of next summer!

Like… you! Think of where you’ll be in a year. Another school year gone, and another summer ahead. Seems crazy to think about, right?

Well, where will you be, spiritually? I said on Wednesday that if you have ever been closer to God than you are now, then right now you are backslidden.

Draw nigh to God through His Word. Learn how to do it through BIBS. Starting in 2 weeks on Wednesdays. Can’t wait…
