What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

Blind Spots

February 26th, 2013

-bulletin note from Sunday, February 24, 2013

Pastor Dan Reed said some instructive and helpful things about a problem we all encounter; the problem of “blind spots.”  The Bible tells us that when the blind lead the blind, they both end up in a ditch. How true that is!  He pointed out some ways to look for suspected blind spots in our lives. One was to consider areas where we seem to have repeating problems- maybe its finances, perhaps family troubles, relationships that are often in trouble, repeated issues with authority, habits and so on.  Another was to just ask a relative, a spouse, or someone who we think would be honest with us to point out those blind spots none of us likes to admit we have.  Christians can allow themselves to slowly slip into conditions that they may not initially recognize as wrong. We can grow lazy, or mistrustful, or sour in spirit, or suspicious, or self-serving, or controlled by pride, or…and you can add a good many other attitudes we may begin to reflect that are other than those we are taught to cultivate by the examples in Scripture.  Our help for seeing clearly where there were before blind spots is of course to have our eyes opened by the power of the Spirit of God, and the Word of God, as we daily read it, as we hear it taught and preached, and as we commit ourselves to do it.  Lord, please help us to receive that spiritual laser eye surgery that will give us 20/20 spiritual vision, and allow us to see like those you healed in the accounts in Scripture! Mark 8:5 “After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.”
