Bulletin Note 8-7-16

November 11th, 2016

At the end of the month we’re once again at that time we call “Sunday School Kickoff.” I want to encourage all who aren’t yet involved in a 10 a.m. Bible class to make the effort to get out and get plugged in to one of them. The children benefit, but adults need this time as well. We need preaching, but we also need teaching, just as we often read of our Lord’s ministry on earth involved both preaching and teaching.
In the Fellowship Bible class, we are in a series I’ve called “Defending our Faith,” and we’re right now looking at the foundation for determining right and wrong. Who’s to say and what the basis is for saying what’s right and wrong? Is there a reasoned and rational defense for our position?
One of our public school teachers once asked some of his students what their basis for determining right and wrong was, and none could give and answer other than what they felt. Everyone agreed something like murder was wrong, but none of them could say just why, other than that they just believed it was wrong.
We Christians need to be able to give an answer for our beliefs, so a series like this one helps with that. There are benefits to being in a Sunday Bible class no matter what age you are, so let me urge you to get out to Sunday School hour even before we get to our “Sunday School Kickoff!”
