Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Feels Like Forever

September 11th, 2017

Feels like forever since we’ve had class, huh?

Welcome back! As we start this new school year, Ipray you remember and act on all that GOD did in you.

LEADERSHIP. For some of you, it means stepping up as a leader. The graduates are gone. Who’s going to take their place? There’s a bunch of juniors and seniors these days. Will we get better or worse as a group? It depends on you.

LOVE. Will you love each other like you should? Don’t be a jerk. Don’t be annoying. It goes both ways. Do you love new people—guests and new 7th graders?

“In.” We had guys psyching themselves up just to go talk to guests. That shouldn’t be. If you love people, you want them in.

Do that on purpose.

Mentor. Can the younger ones look up to the older ones as mentors? Or

just jerks? Mentor people through their annoying habits, don’t get mad at them for those habits.

Love people. See them like GOD sees them.

Grow. If you have annoying habits, grow up. Learn to love others by not being a stumbling-block to their anger or frustration. Grow by loving.

Guests. Everyone should know everyone’s name—men and ladies. Do you?

Outreach. Remember the camp message on hell? Who can you reach?

SERIOUS. I preached last Sunday on making Christianity real to you. I was encouraged by Bro. Guy who said he was greeted by a teen. He’s excited for how God is working in you. I was encouraged to hear of a teen lady who is helping counsel people from the Bible—the GOSPEL. I’m encouraged by you who tell me you’re reading your Bible. I love when you serve as ushers. I love when you sing. I love when you’re into the preaching.

So the opposite of those things are what you should avoid. Fake Christianity. NOT greeting people in church. NOT offering Bible advice but trying to live your own way. NOT serving. NOT singing, or just singing half-heartedly (like, looking off at the wall during singing, or singing with your mouth almost closed…*sigh). NOT being into the preaching.

I guess there’s plenty more I could say. I’m just happy to be back!
