Giving My Best

May 2nd, 2016

Does God deserve the best?
Or does God deserve my best?
There’s a difference. I may not be the best musician in the world, but I have one thing that no one else has. Me.
It’s interesting…God made me like me and you like you. And out there among the billions of people that God has created, there’s not one other person who can give your best.
Sure, there are hundreds of millions and probably billions of people who are better musicians than me.
But God doesn’t necessarily ask me to be the best. He just asks me to do my best.
I can do that.
Whew! That’s a relief.
I can show up to choir, work through my music, try to make my doggone vocal chords line up with my tongue (and everyone else’s voice), and work at not losing my breath. I can do my best when singing congregationals. I can sing with gusto and a sense of conviction. I can do that.
The guy next to me might not think it’s the best, but it’s my best. God knows.
