Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Happy First Day of Winter!

March 18th, 2017

Did you build your snowman today? No, wait… That was actually an ICE man. We don’t do snow here. Well, for those of you rule-breakers that were throwing ice-balls at each other at the skating rink yesterday… shame on you! At least you were being festive.

It was a good day, yesterday. Except for Richie tackling me, it was a good day.

I enjoy spending time with you, even when it’s not an “official” youth activity. I apologize for the music. I know some of you struggle with trying to honor God in your music, and I know some of the songs yesterday may have brought back sinful struggles. Sure, most of it was just Christmas music, but I saw some people mouthing the words to some pretty bad songs, and it hurt me to be a part of that. So, sorry about that. Sometimes we go to public places and have no control over things like that.

I just loved playing tag, falling, racing, and “stopping” with you. Yeah… stopping… that was a little difficult. Good thing the walls were there.

So happy first day of winter. To me, the happiest part of the day is realizing that now the days are going to start getting longer again. This 5 o’clock darkness is depressing. It makes me feel bad for Alaskans right now!

I hope you’re enjoying your Christmas break. Love God, love others, and do right.

Merry Christmas,

  -Bro. Ryan

Who made God? No one. God is eternal. He exists outside of creation and time. If the universe is eternal, science would be false (1st law of thermodynamics – energy not created or destroyed.) Since the universe is not eternal, God is.

Could the world always have existed? No. The 2nd law of thermodynamics says usable energy is running out. The world continues, but cannot continue forever; therefore, it had a beginning (by God).

What was God doing before creation? Nothing. There was no time before creation. Boredom? Not in the infinitely creative God who is perfectly satisfied always.

How can there be three persons in one God? God is three persons but one in nature and essence. He is like 1 x 1 x 1 = 1, not 1+1+1=3; or He is like a triangle: three sides to one shape.
