What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

Just a Couple Weeks Away!

January 31st, 2013

Moving Right Along!

PR13-poster copy

Two weeks from this Saturday is our Preaching Rally. Since our church meeting a couple of weeks ago, dozens of people have been helping decorate, make phone calls, clean things up, prepare for registration, and more! I originally set out to mention a few people by name in this post, but quickly realized that I would definitely not be able to do anyone justice. SO many people have already been involved in the decoration workdays and in many other preparations that I could not list just one or two key people… everyone is “key!”

It is encouraging to everyone, even our future guests, to see a whole church come together and work. One key attribute of the church at Thessalonica was that they were hard workers, and it showed throughout the whole world (read 1 Thes. 1). Over and over in the Bible Christians are encouraged to serve in the context of a church. “All I did was slathered some paint on a canvas” someone might think. Well, in that, you served God and were a testimony to others!

Our decorations this year will be large piles of rocks representing the monument from the story in Joshua 3-4. Outside we will be constructing a large (12’x16′) Bible to show that we are timeless when we obey God’s timeless Word. Because the preaching is from Joshua and relates to Israel crossing the Jordan, the choir loft will be covered by a huge (12’x15′) backdrop of a cool desert scene. We’ve got a good start on all these decorations (see below)!
