What Are We Supposed To Do With Ourselves Now?

Now that Comedy Night is done, what are we supposed to do with ourselves? We’ve been so intensely practicing that we forgot about… gaming! Oh yeah. Mafia. That’s what we can do. Thanks, Alexa. And for the lesson time, we finished up the 3 M’s and 3 A’s for men […]

Lives are Changed by the Power of the Gospel!

February 12th, 2013

-bulletin note from February 10, 2013

It is remarkable how some well-meaning people can think that if the politicians just pass some more gun control laws, things will get all better!  Murderers and thieves and perverts don’t care how many laws are passed, because they are lawless to begin with.  A nation of people who, by and large, have thrown off the moral code given us by the influence of a founding people who were God-fearing folks, is a nation which experiences the depredations we now see in the news every day. Case in point: we read of a school board member currently on trial for running a prostitution ring out of his home!  When asked by the prosecution if he thought it was inappropriate to be using his home, where two of his children lived to house prostitutes, he said he saw nothing wrong with it!  His wife is currently in jail on other unrelated charges.  He remains, at the present, on the school board.  One might ask how such an immoral character could have gotten on any school board in the first place!  How could Mr. Rios think his actions were acceptable?  1. He obviously has no compunction to accept or follow the teaching of the Bible and the principles of right and wrong given therein. 2. Every day, on every channel he watches television programs which glorify illicit sex and make pimps, prostitutes and perverts look like the heroes of the culture.  3. He sees an American sports culture that is obsessed not with sports, but with sex.  One popular singing harlot did her sexually charged act at half-time of the Super Bowl, and then had the gall to say she does it for God!  Her god is a different one from the God of the Bible.  So when people like Mr. Rios act on what they see as that which many Americans receive into their homes as entertaining, the secularists in society should not be surprised.  We won’t change a violent and sex-crazed culture by passing more laws.  It has to come as a result of lives changed by the power of the gospel of Christ.
