New Exercises = Soreness

August 20th, 2017

I don’t exercise… but if I DID, I would know what I was talking about.

In fact, I used to play sports. Back then, any new exercise yielded a lot of soreness. When I was new, I wasn’t good, but the “new” was exciting.

That’s how choir is. We sing a new song (like this morning and tonight). Nothing’s quite polished and perfect on it, but it’s exciting!

If you expect it and try to plan ahead for the mistakes, the song usually ends up okay. Sure, there might be some sore spots, but the excitement of the song overtakes the sore spots.

Let that excitement shine in your face tonight. Let it shine every week. Choose to show the excitement of “new” every time you sing a song—new or old.

Somehow, God makes HIS mercies “new every morning.” Maybe it takes a sliver of his infinite creativity and eternity for us to sing fresh each week, but are we not striving to be like God in ALL areas of life?
