Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Note From Bro. Ryan Rench

August 20th, 2013

-bulletin note from Sunday, August 18, 2013

Pastor Rench is out on vacation this week.

A couple months ago, my wife and I went to see the play The Fiddler on the Roof down on Coronado Island. The cast sang the heart-wrenching song “Sunrise, Sunset” at the daughter’s marriage, and everyone around the room dabbed their eyes with tissues as they were crying, perhaps thinking of the good-ol-days of yesteryear and how fast time flies.

For some of you, your kids started school last week. For others, your time is still coming. Some of you have kids who are grown or perhaps have grandkids by now. “Sunrise, sunset…” Time flies when you’re… living!

Church is a weekly “reality” check. “Real” is not actually this fast-paced life we live. “Real” is eternity. What “really” matters is how much you love God and how much you live for Him. Your relationships with others are what matter.

At church, you’re confronted each week with God’s Word, and you are challenged to be real. You are challenged to make choices that will last. You are challenged to not be selfish… to live beyond yourself.

Everything we do at church has a deliberate purpose behind it. Make sure that you are involved.
The Couples Retreat is coming up soon, and it is a chance for you to be helped in one of the most important areas of your life – your marriage. Much of your spiritual walk with God depends on your walk with your spouse. What have you done lately to slow down the rat-race of life and really reflect on the things that matter? You only have so much time in life before it hits you… “Sunrise, Sunset…” Take the time at this year’s Couples Retreat to get away for a couple days. It can only help you, and you won’t regret it. Sign up in the foyer today.
