Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

One Event Down, a Few More To Go

November 25th, 2016

Yesterday (and Friday) was our outdoor  choir concerts for the church and community. I appreciated seeing MANY of you out serving each night. John, Michael, Michael, and Joe helped with a bunch of setup both nights since they were early, but they needed Robbie’s help for all the heavy lifting like the pianos, amplifiers, and, you know, the microphones and cables (those are heavy!). Raqi and Jacky were our pleasant greeters/servers as they served up tons of hot cocoa and coffee. I know Alexa, Sarah, and Anastasia helped with the kitchen and kids, as well as others… I’m just not sure who else was in the kitchen or gym. Also, Isabelle did a good job on the piano, and Alisha, Alexa, Lexi and Robbie did a great job singing in choir… we needed every single voice out there in the open air!

Plenty of others jumped in to help set up and tear down, and I appreciated that in Richie (short sleeves, really?!), Jacob L., Caroline, Gabriella, Kaite, Robert, Luke and others. It was even great having people show up to watch, like Jolin & Sofia. Without a crowd to sing to, it would have been a pointless night!

Finally, we were excited to see some of our college students back! We saw Matthew and Daniel over Thanksgiving break, and it was good to see Christian, Cassi and Cody last night (wait… is it Christmas break for them already, or did they all get kicked out of school?? Hmm…)

So, now the choir concerts are out of the way, and it’s on to the next few events: Friday’s Christmas party, next Sunday’s “Scrooge” play, and then CHRISTMAS!

Enjoy the season, but be sure to remember that it’s ALL about Christ. At least, it should be! Love God, love others and do right.

P.S. I’m sorry if I missed someone in naming names above. I’m sure it happened, and I’m sure I didn’t see or name all the work you did. Sometimes I include names to encourage you in the work, but please don’t make it a prideful thing, or get your feelings hurt if your efforts are not noticed or pointed out.
