Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

This Week, Speak “Fitting” Words

November 8th, 2015

Do you know people that seem to always say the right things at the right time? I love those people… even when the thing they’re saying is something I don’t necessarily WANT to hear. What they say “fits.” It’s right. It’s good. I need it.
Do you speak “fit” words to each other?
How about to your parents?
How about at school? How about at church?
Do your words fit the situation you’re in?
“Fit” words can look like a lot of things: reproving, rebuking, or exhorting, to name a few. I’d recommend you spend MOST of your words on being encouraging.
Today’s little booklet is something we put together a few years ago. I went through Proverbs and pulled out a bunch of verses on each topic. Originally, this booklet had 4 sections, but I don’t have the verses printed out for the last one. The 4 sections were: CLOSE your mouth, OPEN your mouth, WATCH your mouth, and USE your mouth. “Using your mouth” was on several topics including soul-winning, being encouraging, speaking up for right, training others, being helpful, empathizing with others, and using your other spiritual gifts.
The booklet today only includes the first three sections, all from Proverbs.
