Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Today Is a Wonderful Day To Be Saved

April 22nd, 2017

Today—like every Sunday—is a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Well, I don’t believe in the resurrection.” You don’t? I preached last Sunday night about 5 historical facts that helped ME believe it. Maybe they can help you, too (taken from the book A Case For Christ, by Lee Strobel):

Fact 1: Jesus died by crucifixion. Even Bible CRITICS believe this one.

Fact 2: The disciples believed he rose from the dead. Critics will say, “It’s mythology. It’s folklore. The resurrection is a made-up story that was created over centuries of story-telling.” Critics said that until they found scrolls dating back to 60 A.D. If it was mythology, a LOT of people (hundreds of thousands) bought into it in ONE generation. Liars make bad martyrs—if it was folklore, why did they DIE for that? (They died because they saw Jesus).

Fact 3 (embarrassing): Paul (Saul) converted to Christianity. Again, historical fact. This may not PROVE that the resurrection happened, but it’s hard to ignore. The ENEMY of Jesus defected. Why? Saul was the one killing Christians, and then he became one. If the resurrection’s not real, why Saul?

Fact 4 (embarrassing): James (Jesus’ brother) did not convert until later. A rabbi’s first converts are his family, or it’s a shame. No one who’s “creating” a story would write their hero in such a bad light. But when James witnessed the resurrected, he converted, too.

Fact 5: Jesus’ tomb is empty. If there was a body when all the disciples were saying, “He’s risen!” they would have just opened the tomb and said, “No he’s not. Here’s his body.” Instead, Jewish AND Roman leaders were confused. Their excuse: “The disciples STOLE the body! Yeah… that’s it.” Hmm…

Other religions teach some nice things. Morals. Virtues. Qualities.

But NO religion offers a RISEN Savior!

Being a GOOD person won’t do ANYTHING for you in the afterlife.

“It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this, the judgment.”

Today is a wonderful day to be saved (like the title says) because it’s a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

If you’re trusting asceticism or Allah, you need to trust Jesus!

If you’re trusting baptism or Buddha, you need to trust Jesus!

If you’re trusting catechism or Confucius, discipline or Dagon, family or false gods, you need to trust Jesus!

If Jesus has the power over death itself, then what He says is true. When He says, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me,” then I suggest that we listen!

Today is a wonderful day to be saved. For those that ARE saved already, it’s a wonderful day. For those that are NOT saved already, today is a great day to BE (become) saved. Convert to Christ.

He made you. He loves you. He wants what’s best for you. And He alone has the power to make it so.

Will you turn to Him today?
