Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

TOF – Improving

July 26th, 2013

Sunday, April 21, 2013

This weekend I’ll be going once again to the Ironwood Youth Leaders Retreat. I’ve gone the last few years and have always tried to improve myself and the Teens of Faith in some way as a result of going to the retreat.

This year, I will also be bringing several ideas to share with the other youth directors, and I get to brag on you a little. I’ll be giving a 15-minute segment on how our Wednesday nights have been going including the Missions Trip, BIBS, and split session details. I’m most excited about telling the others about our BIBS discussions on Wednesday nights. Why? Because you’ve done it. J I wouldn’t be sharing the idea if it was a flop. It’s not like, “yeah, my teens all rebelled and ran away from home and never did their devotions and hate God now, but here’s a great idea you should try…” No. It’s been a good experience to see God working in your lives, and I truly believe that every single one of you who were involved in our Wednesday nights services have grown dramatically since this time last year. Maybe you see it in yourself, and maybe you don’t. I do. And I praise God for it!

Are you always looking for ways to improve? Life will be about improving your strengths and shoring up your weaknesses. It will always be about stretching yourself and facing the tough questions like, “How could I have done this better?” It hurts to improve, but it’s the only way you’ll grow.

The sessions I’ll be in this week will hurt. I have always walked away from some of the sessions and thought, “Man. I’m a failure. God, help me do better in _____.” I hope God does the same thing for me again this week.

-Bro. Ryan
