Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

TOF – Interns, No More BIBS

July 26th, 2013

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

With the interns coming soon and the BIBS books finishing, we are taking a little different turn with our Wednesday nights. We will still have our split sessions and we will still be doing our man-time and lady-time, but we will sometimes be incorporating it into our Bible time.

Until the interns get here we will have a series of guests in to share their testimonies and speak on various topics. Once the interns get here they will each take a few weeks of the summer and preach on Wednesday nights, as well as fill in for me in Sunday school while I am away on trips like the Alaska Trip.

All the way till Comedy Night, we will also continue to have our combined skit practices that we will work in as best we can. Sometimes, depending on the topics we need to cover and the guest speaker we have, we will start Comedy Night practices earlier, but most of the time we will practice till about 8:15.

I can’t wait for the interns to get here. They are Heartland students who both seem to have a passion for the Lord and a desire to serve Him. Bro. Tim LaVere is now finishing his 4th year and is returning to complete a couple more classes next Fall. He feels as if God is calling him to start a church in CA some day, so we are excited to help in his training as he comes to serve here. Bro. Garrett Gayoso (pronounced guy-oso) has just completed his first year and is a Texan. (Bless us, Lord. Help us.) He’s a really nice guy and is willing to serve in any way that he can.

They will both be in our class for the whole time they’re here, and they’ll be coming to as many of our activities as possible (not camp, bummer!) What would be awesome is if you would look at them like live-in camp counselors. You know how you can talk to the camp counselors about anything and everything in your sit-down talks with them? Feel free to open up to the interns about anything. They’re not here to get mad at you or beat you up. They’re here to help you in any way that they can—if you want the help, that is.

Their first Sunday will be Promotion Sunday in a few weeks, so we will have lots of new people that day. Pray for them. Encourage them. And be nice to them.

-Bro. Ryan
