Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Youth Winter Rendezvous

I think this year was my favorite.

Do I say that every year? Who knows… But I loved the laid back time and the fun we had last week at the Rendezvous. Surprisingly, one of my favorite things was your response to the state of the youth group address. I thought it really opened up my eyes to so many different areas that the Teens of Faith focus on, and it helped me see both your strengths and weaknesses in many of them.

I was telling the guys in our room devos that you need to not only be deep in Scripture but you also need to be broad. You need to know lots of different areas that God wants you to work on, and work on all of them at the same time. Wow! That’s a lot of work.

Also, your attentiveness during the preaching was a blessing, especially Wednesday night. Good job.

One thing that was horrible about the week… getting mugged by 7 thugs. All the guys worked to pin me down and Rodrick stole my wallet! (Just kidding about the wallet). Ah yes, good times in the guys’ cabin.

The sermons were as follows:
Wednesday night: Bro. Ryan. “Friend or foe? You can’t be both.” The idea was to humbly draw nigh. How? Submit to God, resist the devil, draw nigh to God, cleanse and purify, and have real, humble repentance.

Thursday morning: split sessions. “State of the Youth Group address” We talked through our 2012 events and then wrote our personal spiritual report card on a lot of spiritual areas.

Thursday night: Bro. Donny Wilson. The idea was that because we are made nigh by the blood of Christ through His sacrifice, we should be willing to dedicate everything to Him.

Friday morning: Bro. Eric Johnson. Even though you have a relationship with Christ, you need to keep up your fellowship every day.
