Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

You know when the Bible talks about serving, usually it’s talking about work.

Did you know that plain ol’ work is actually a way to serve the Lord? How cool is that? Picking up leaves, setting up chairs, learning how to drive on church property by Bro. Ryan Driving Services… yep. It’s all in the name of serving God!

All those things happened this week, by the way.

I’m sorry I forgot to announce it after the service on Wednesday, but thank you for those of you who stuck around and helped us set up for Roundup Sunday. We had tons of tables to set up and couldn’t have done it without you. Once the room with the chairs was opened up, Cassi and I man-handled those chairs into place all by ourselves (thanks for sticking around Cassi!)

And then Sam and I set up all those chairs – perfectly straight – on Friday. Sam’s been coming out on Fridays to help with the yard work. Guess what… that’s a way to serve God.

Then yesterday we had Lexi and Lois cutting up onions, and Kelly spent like 3 hours organizing my music closet! It looks amazing in there! Finally, Rodrick “claims” he was working, but he spent all day learning to drive! Just kidding. He DID drive my truck all over, but he did tons of work around here yesterday. That’s serving God! And he gets a bonus of community service hours through school too.

All that’s to say, keep up the good work. When it’s time to work, work! And work hard. Be diligent. Be a hard worker. Be a servant. Don’t just take… give! Give through working. If I can sign off on any hours… bonus! But always remember that God’s rewards are better than man’s, so praise God for letting you serve Him.

YOUTH RALLY – Liberty Baptist Church, Newport Beach. Leaving at 12:30, returning at 7:30 THIS SATURDAY Sep. 15.

If you see someone in this room who’s never gone to a youth rally, invite him or her specifically… hunt them down! “You ARE coming, right?” Bro. Bryan Samms is preaching.

* If you’re coming to door-knocking that day, bring some money for lunch.
