Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

TOF – The Heartland Trip Is About Giving

January 11th, 2015

This week, several people from our church (Herholds, Cepedas, Renches, and maybe the Gutierrezes) will be heading to Heartland for the Church Planters Conference. It is a good chance to see the college as well as a way for our church to be a blessing to several church planters.

As you know, our annual offering went to help the orphanages in Mexico instead of the church planters this year. The timing worked out well, because our church is able to help in a bigger way than ever before. Like Pastor announced a couple weeks ago, we raised over $8,000 through our Christmas offering! That means our church will be able to help more church planters at even higher amounts! What a blessing to give.

Giving is a blessing TO US… not only to the recipient. The fact that we are able to give is a testimony of God’s financial goodness to us. We want to accept God’s gifts with the mindset that HE is the owner, and WE are the stewards. We are just using His money the way He wants us to.

Are you a giver? A couple weeks ago in our 1 Corinthians series we talked about giving. Paul just lays it out there like it’s what every Christian should do. Maybe he did that because giving is what every Christian should do.

Did you get your giving contribution statement back from the church for last year? Did you give? Did you stretch your faith through giving? Did you see God provide and bless? Did you put God to the test?

Hopefully your answer to all those questions is “yes.” Giving is YOUR benefit. The only person missing out by not giving is you. Think about it… it’s a win-win!
