Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Home Missions

If you were here last week you heard one of the best presentations on church planting ever.

We are intentional about keeping home missions in front of you because of the very reasons that Bro. Irmler gave. If no one is planting churches here in America, eventually there will be no one to support foreign missions.

Whenever I am in Oklahoma (like I am tonight giving away our TOF Home Missions Offering) for the Church Planting Conference, I am always very careful about where our money goes. Of course, EVERYWHERE in America needs the gospel, but if you have never been out of California, you may not have seen how many churches are in places like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and other places in the Midwest. My wife’s church is a strong, independent, Fundamental, KJV, soul-winning Baptist church in Indianapolis—just like our church. The difference in Indiana is that there are dozens more churches just like ours within a 30 minute drive of her home church! She lived a while in a town of 20,000, and there were at least 5 Baptist churches there.

Here… not even close. Faith Baptist Church is 15 miles up the road in Wildomar, and they’re pretty much the only other one here in the whole Temecula Valley that uses the King James Bible! In Temecula, Murrieta, Winchester and the surrounding communities there are probably about 300,000 people. And two Baptist churches. (There’s another small Southern Baptist church down by Pechanga, but that’s it).

California needs more churches! Bro. David Hetzer is 40 minutes south in San Marcos, Bro. Christenson is 30 minutes away in Fallbrook, Bro. Beard and Bro. Leavell are in the Hemet area, there are a couple Baptist churches in Corona, a couple in Escondido… I’m naming HUGE communities with tens of thousands of people and we can only come up with about 1 or 2 churches per city.

Every time we’re at the conference, Pastor and I always try to give our money to places like Seattle, Minnesota, anywhere in California, Florida, New Orleans, Nevada, Arizona and such—anywhere there are not already tons of churches. We’re not judging the church planters that go to other places like Springfield, MO or Oklahoma City, but no one can argue the point that the need is greater in CA than it is in Oklahoma City. Maybe someone will have to drive an extra 6 minutes in order to get to a good church in Oklahoma, but it’s just my opinion that they can manage. I digress, and I am being a little facetious now. But the point is still the same—our TOF Home Missions Fund will primarily be spent where we perceive the need is greatest. You can count on that.

I can’t wait to see you Sunday to report on how it’s going this week!

-Bro. Ryan
