Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

Good Intentions

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Wow! That’s quite a way to start your Wednesday night, right?

While it’s not as drastic as the question of heaven or hell, the question still remains: memorize or not. Will you memorize your John 15 chapter or not? Most people who desire to please God and do right have good intentions, “Yes, I’ll memorize the whole chapter. It would be good for me.”

But good intentions only get you so far. They don’t cram words in your head. One thing about memorizing a chapter is that you really get it… there’s no cramming like when you’re memorizing one or two verses.

You might think that all summer sounds like a long time… but it’s not! I hope you’re already working on your John 15, at least verses 1-17. Every week that you see youth staff you can say verses to us. It’s been about 3 weeks since anyone has even said two verses!! Some people haven’t even said that much, so if you’re new to the group, it’s not like you’re far behind. About 3 verses a week will catch you up if you start now.

I hope you decide to put work into it. I’ve found it a lot more difficult than I thought! I’ve been listening to that recording like crazy, and I still don’t have it down (I’ve got the background music memorized!)

Don’t fall victim to the dreaded “good intentions” disease. It’s almost worse than the “no emotion” disease!
