Monumental Moments In Life

I got home yesterday from preaching a 3-night rally in Colorado. I like the emphasis on kicking off the school year right—with Bible preaching! Today, I’ll be re-preaching all three sermons (not all in Sunday school!) as we think about starting the year strong. Each day is a new beginning […]

TOF – Yee-Haw!

December 26th, 2013

Note from Sunday, September 8, 2013

Does anyone ever say that for real?

Yee-Haw! Nah.

I feel like that annoying red-yarn-haired girl on that Toy Story movie (whichever one it was). She always kind of annoyed me. If that was your favorite character and I just shattered your childhood dreams, I’m sorry. She was just loud and weird. Like some of you. Loud and weird.

Anyway, welcome to Roundup Sunday! Y’all! I’ve been growing out my beard just so I could have a Bro. Church styled handlebar mustache. After today, who knows what will happen to it… my wife might buzz it off while I’m sleeping or something. I hope not…

In preparation for our chili cook-off today, many of you were out helping set up tables and chairs last Wednesday. Thank you for that. You’re a blessing. It’s a blessing to see you serving. It means a lot, and it says a lot about you. You might not realize how much your life impacts others, but that’s the point of last week’s sermon – your actions are bigger than you. You affect more than you. So do right. Build up your life with incorruptible materials like gold, silver, precious stones and… golf balls (ok you had to be here to get that one.)

Love God. Love others. Do right. That’s the essence of everything we do around here in the Teens of Faith. If you love God with ALL your heart, you can’t help but have a love for others and a desire to serve them. Our church was recently accused of being full of a bunch of “do-gooders.”  To that I say, “Praise God!” I hope we always try to do good to others.

LIBERTY YOUTH RALLY SIGNUP – see the table for more info.

ALASKA PICTURES – If you’d like to download all 1400+ photos from Alaska, please visit teensoffaith.org/alaska.

ADULT CHOIR – Anyone 16 years and older can join adult choir. I would encourage you to do so now that we are starting our Christmas cantata rehearsals. It will dramatically help your voice and your sight-reading to sing each week in practice.

NEW DATING BOOKLET – Please see the foyer for a free booklet on dating. Every one of you should read it. Inserted into each booklet is a tri-fold flyer on Ice Cream Sundae relationships – the topic of one of our 2014 Preaching Rally sessions. We will be giving these booklets away at the Preaching Rally, as well as selling the ebook version on Amazon.com.

NEW KINDLE BOOKLETS AVAILABLE – If you have a Kindle or the Kindle app on your phone, some of our church’s booklets are now available on Amazon.com. The following booklets are available, with more to come: A Case for Reverence, A Case for Being Timeless (all three combined into one), and A Case for Sunday Evening Church. They will soon be available as audiobooks on Amazon.com and Audible.com, as well. Purchase them for yourself to carry around, or give as a Kindle gift to others for special occasions (there’s a “Give as a gift” option by the payment buttons).

Only Fear the Lord (song 121)

Only fear the Lord and serve Him with all your heart,
Serve Him with all your heart, serve Him with all you heart.
Only fear the Lord and serve Him with all your heart,
Serve Him in truth with all your heart.
For consider how great things He hath done for you,
He hath done for you, He hath done for you.
For consider how great things He hath done for you
So serve Him in truth with all your heart.

Humble Yourselves (song 123)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God,
That He may exalt you in due time.
Casting all your care upon Him,
For He careth for you,
He careth for you.
