Vote For Biblical Values

October 23rd, 2012

Billy Graham began his ministry as a Baptist evangelist in the late 40’s. Fundamental Baptists such as Dr. Monroe Parker and others had much influence upon his early ministry.  Over the years multitudes have heard his powerful voice and winsome personal touch as he preached the gospel of Christ.  Independent Baptists across America were disappointed when Dr. Graham allowed his ministry to take an ecumenical direction, with his messages taking a more accommodating and compromising character.  For a time, it seemed as though he was working hard trying not to offend even those who proudly and publicly proclaimed their right to practice sinful life choices.  So, it was refreshing to get a glimpse of the Billy Graham of old when last week he ran a full page in the New York Times.  It was a photograph of him at nearly 94 years old, holding up his King James Bible, and it was accompanied by the following personal statement:

“The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren, and this great nation is crucial.  As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last.  I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on Biblical principles and support the nation of Israel.  I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.  Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”  To that I say, “Amen and Amen!”
