Periodic Reminders

Half the Old Testament is the word Remember. No, that’s not true. It’s 48%. I just rounded up. As Israel forgot, so do we. Today’s insert is a simple reminder of some of the standards we work to maintain as we sing for the Lord. My prayer is that you […]

We Went To GIVE, But We GOT.

August 20th, 2017

Our little Romania Team of 14 people returned home on Wednesday night. We spent a week trying to GIVE of ourselves to the people in Romania, but we RECEIVED far more of a blessing.

We’ll spend tonight’s service talking about it and giving testimonies, so you’ll have to come back later to hear more. Meanwhile, we added a few (hundred) new pictures to the church’s Flickr account.

Missions IS about giving. But through giving to God, you get loads in return. God is amazing like that. Serving Him is the best part of life, and anyone who lives selfishly will feel the emptiness of Ecclesiastes—“Vanity, all is vanity.” It seems backwards. You’d think that by focusing on self, you could fill yourself up easier. And you’d think that by focusing on others, you would empty yourself and be drained. It’s the opposite. You’re never more satisfied than when you’re serving others in a heart of love for God.

Give. And I’m not talking about money. I’m talking about you. –Bro. Ryan

Camp. Okay… NOW I can get excited about camp. We’d been preparing so hard for Romania that camp has taken a back seat. Sorry. One thing at a time. My little peanut brain can’t handle more than that.

Our numbers keep growing! That’s awesome. I love it. It’s a week of preaching and other spiritual emphasis. As a youth pastor, that sounds good to me!

Remember that the REACH scholarships are still available. And please spread the word about the Yard Sale donations. I just had a guy ask me about the yard sale yesterday. That’s how he knew our church!

Thank you. I appreciate Bro. Sean and Bro. Wilson filling in for me while I was gone. I know you got the Word of God, and that’s the BEST thing for you. So, even though the class was a lot smaller, thank you for showing up and being in church. Today we’re back to “normal,” if you can call any youth pastor “normal.”

NO OPEN HOUSE – Many teens will be at Pastor’s house for a Fellowship Class party, so we are not doing an Open House tonight. Plus… I’m tired. Zzz..
